Despite the fact that the Local 83 Listener’s Union (John Mayer’s official fan club) is closing and hence I will likely get terrible seats for his Tampa show in February, I still plan on attending because I enjoy his concerts so much and they’re always worth whatever I spend on tickets. And although I love most of his music, there are a handful of songs that I’ve yet to hear him perform live. This is my wish list:

I saw this tonight. I don’t really have words for it, other than I would like to encourage everyone to see this movie. The performances are terrific, the subject matter is harrowing but still manages to leave you hopeful, and I would just love to see this movie do well so that more movies like this continue to be made, rather than Saw 36 or I Love You, Beth Cooper.

I’m obsessed with saving money on utilities, especially electricity. Literally everything that is not in use stays unplugged until I’m ready to use it, and the moment I’m done using it the power is cut off. The only things that stay plugged in continuously are my DVR and my refrigerator. This makes for fairly cheap utility bills, but this is my first fall and winter in my current place and with the temperatures dropping, I am super psyched that I won’t have to run the central air so often, which hopefully makes my utility bills linger around the $20-$40 range. During the summer, I had to run it all night because it is so hot here.

This is my cat. He know how to open every cabinet in my apartment. He’s not technically allowed on the kitchen counter, but I’m not around very much to enforce the rules, so he does as he pleases for the most part. Apparently, it pleases him to help himself to my canned goods and whatnot.

Note: That kitchen gets cleaned regularly, but I haven’t actually used it for cooking in months.

I love John Mayer. This is no secret. In my opinion, his songwriting skill is unmatched, his guitar prowess unparalleled, and let us not mince words, the boy gives pretty damn good face. And he’s smart and funny to boot. A brilliant musician without all the demons (for a change). Every record he’s crafted up this point outshines anything churned out by MOST of his contemporaries. And since his role in the record making process encompasses almost every aspect of production, even down to album cover art, his accomplishments as an artist seem all the more impressive.

So why do I hate this song and video so much? To me, this whole thing screams INDULGENT! Base! Flash in abundance, but no substance! A live action tabloid cover story that he made for himself! Ick!

If this is what I can expect from Battle Studies, I may not even buy it. I know there is also a track featuring Taylor Swift as well. I haven’t heard it yet, but I can’t for the life of me figure out why someone who is accomplished as he is would be collaborating with the likes of Taylor Swift. She’s hot right now, whatever. She’s not of the same caliber. It might as well have been Miley Cyrus. Heaven forbid!
